Meet Your Instructor

Instructor & Course Creator Josephine Yam, J.D., LLM., MA Philosophy (AI Ethics)

Josephine Victoria Yam serves as the instructor and course creator for the "Responsible AI Audit™: AI Risk Detection Series." Ms. Yam is an AI lawyer and AI ethicist with three graduate degrees (J.D., LL.M., M.A. Phil. (AI Ethics)), bar admissions in four jurisdictions, and advanced executive education from Stanford, Harvard, and the University of Toronto. Her legal career includes work at Baker & McKenzie LLP (Toronto, Manila, Hong Kong, serving as Senior Legal Counsel for the Government of Alberta (Department of Justice and Department of Energy, acting as an International Legal Consultant for the Asian Development Bank (ADB Administrative Tribunal), and holding the position of CEO/Executive Director at the Environmental Law Centre in Alberta. She also served as a Lecturer in Information Technology Law at Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. She has published peer-reviewed research in Ethics and Information Technology and the American Journal of Bioethics Neuroscience. Additionally, she has received international recognition as a "Top 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics" and a "Leader in Responsible AI," and has participated in numerous Canadian government-sponsored international trade missions for technology entrepreneurs. It’s a self-guided online course so you can take it at your own pace anytime and anywhere. The course is comprised of 25 High Definition Videos, 6 quick quizzes, 8 Bonus BoardSource Materials and 6 lists of  Additional Resources. We designed the program lessons in short segments so that you can take each lesson in about ten minutes or less. It will take about 2.5 hours to 3 hours to complete.

How long can I access the course?

You can access the course for 90 days from the date of your enrolment in the course. If you do not earn your course completion certificate within 90 days, your registration will expire and you will need to pay to re-enrol for the course.

How do I navigate around the course? 

After completing each video, click the Next button on the bottom right hand corner of the screen. This will register that you have completed the video in that particular module.

After selecting your answer to a question in the Quick Quiz, click the Check button located at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. This will prompt the system to provide you with the recommended answer to the question.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

You can request a full refund or cancellation up to fourteen days after confirmation of your paid enrolment, provided:

  • you have not started any lesson in the course or
  • you have not downloaded any course materials.

After fourteen days, if you have already started a lesson or have downloaded a course material, you will not be entitled to any refund or cancellation from Skills4Good.
